Saturday Stumble: The Tripple Threat

This Saturday, I’m coming at you with not just one sweet stumble, but three. They were all too good for me not to pass them on. I’ve also realized that both of my previous Saturday Stumbles, involve photography. This wasn’t intentional, they’ve just happened to be the ones that stood out the most. I’m going to try to mix it up from now on, but I can’t promise anything. So, without further adieu, I give you, for a limited-time only, this weeks Saturday Stumble with three times the wholesome goodness.

First up, we have Ken Sparkes Photography. Ken Sparkes uses a blog format (running on WordPress) to share his photography. This makes for an interesting way to present his body of work, unfortunately, it also let’s us know that he was only active one month, — as far as posting goes — and that was October 2006. Of his five posts, I’d have to say the one entitled, Maison Bulle (”bubble house” if French) is my favorite. Maison Bulle is the home of fashion designer, Pierre Cardin, and is located near Cannes, France. The house is very strange looking, but it’s also very intriguing. The interior, full of gentle curves and amorphous shapes seems oddly soothing, and is captured beautifully by Sparkes’ photographs.

The next stumble comes from Irene Suchocki Photography. Irene’s photography is full of well composed images, and I’m sure they were great without needing a lot of retouching, but Irene has chosen to take things a step further, and give her images a distinct aesthetic quality by doing a little extra post-production work. I’m a huge fan of the textures she uses one some of her images, especially the ones in her landscape gallery. Her trademark seems to be scenes with a very serene and ethereal feeling to them. I’m a big fan. I might even purchase a few prints.

The final stumble for this week comes from Unphotographable. There’s actually not any photography on this site at all. I just thought this blog was a cool concept by Michael David Murphy, who actually is a photographer. In his own words, here’s Michael David Murphy’s description of Unphotographable:

Unphotographable is a catalog of exceptional mistakes. Photos never taken that weren’t meant to be forgotten. Opportunities missed. Simple failures. Occasions when I wished I’d taken the picture, or not forgotten the camera, or had been brave enough to click the shutter.

You can read more about why he does this, here.
