Saturday Stumble: Stefan G. Bucher’s Daily Monster
This week’s stumble is a video from Stefan G. Bucher’s, DAILY MONSTER. Stefan G. Bucher is a writer, graphic designer, and illustrator of 344 Design fame. The tagline to the blog is “Drawings, Stories, Thing: Show Me Your Monsters & I’ll Show You Mine.” His blog used to be a showcase of his daily monsters, monsters he would create by starting with and inkblot, that he would record and post as a time-lapse video.
After 100 monsters, it seems he decided to move on to weekly monsters. On top of his daily monsters weekly monsters, he, also, publishes what he calls Open Source Monsters. The way it works is he makes an inkblot and then publishes it a PDF on his site. Anyone can download the inkblot and then print it out to create their own monster. Then you just send it back to him. He picks the ones that he really likes, and publishes them on his site.
I really like to watch as his drawings progress. It’s interesting to see how he goes from an inkblot to a new monster. Plus, the dude starts by drawing/writing the introduction to the video upside-down (for clarification, he’s not physically upside-down, he’s just drawing /writing upside-down), and he does it quite well. It’s pretty impressive. You can watch a video of Stefan’s second DAILY MONSTER below, or visit the DAILY MONSTER for more videos.
